Staff Accountant - We are a growing, international company located near LAX seeking a Staff Accountant (new position) to join our Accounting Department at our Hawthorne location.
Reporting to the controller, the successful individual will be responsible for the day to day management of assigned accounting functions. The successful candidate will possess a detailed knowledge of accounting principles and practices with at least three years of practical experience setting up, improving and managing the complete financial process as well as performing cash and general ledger reconciliations.
The candidate will be responsible for accounting and financial support to business operations, work to accurately record activity for monthly financial close process and assist with oversight and adherence to internal controls and compliance.
Experience with a large ERP system is desired (Microsoft Dynamics Navision is ideal) in a manufacturing/inventory environment. You must be an intermediate-to-advanced Excel user.
This is a full-time position. After the introductory period, our employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as participating in our 401k program.
You will work five days a week, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities include:
Perform daily cash reconciliations and monthly general ledger account reconciliations
Assist with the monthly close process
Process and post journal entries to the general ledger
Maintain relevant general ledger account schedules
Prepare general ledger entries and reconciling accounts
Assist the Controller during month-end, quarterly and year end reporting
Maintain weekly and monthly reports for management
Prepare and manage various month end close reports
Assist with analysis of actual expenses to budget
Manage weekly client billing process and employee expense report processing
Establish, implement and monitor cost reduction and efficiency initiatives by eliminating redundant or unnecessary processes or through automation
Assist with trial balance preparation
Assist with AR collections and activities, as needed
Assist with AP activities, as needed
Ability to manage the implementation of updated procedures
Ability to maintain and verify cost accuracy for all project management
Must possess a personal sense of urgency and ability to multitask with composure in a fast paced environment
Assist with special ad hoc Accounting and Finance related projects
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or equivalent experience
3+ years of relevant experience in accounting
Ability to set up and effectively use accounting software, spreadsheets etc. to perform tracking and analysis functions
Experience in Microsoft Dynamics Navision, or another, large ERP system
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel (pivot tables and Vlookups)
Deadline orientated with strong analytical skills and effective time management skills
Aggressive in investigating and resolving account discrepancies. Strong communication skills
Knowledge of cost accounting
Knowledge of GAAP and ability to Implement GAAP procedures with proper documentation
Strong attention to detail
Self-starter and able to manage time, projects and deadlines
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Uses critical thinking skills to interpret information furnished in written, oral or schedule form
Fluent spoken and written Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement for this position

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
